In a bizarre turn of events at last weekend's Rolling Stones concert in Ontario, Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk claims he was the target of an unprovoked verbal attack. By none other than Ontario Cabinet Minister Lisa MacLeod. As for Lisa MacLeod, Eugene Melnyk claims he didn't even know who she was at the time.

“So I’m just there, we’ve got families and friends in a small group and I’m surrounded by people from Ottawa — and I see from the corner of my eye somebody trying to bust through,” Melnyk tells the Ottawa Sun. “I’m thinking, ‘OK, might be a crazed fan and that’s fine. I’ve gotten used to it. And all of a sudden it’s this woman and she yells at me, ‘Do you know who I am?’"

Melnyk says he admitted that he didn't know who she was, which was all it took for MacLeod to launch into her alleged verbal attack against the NHL exec.

"She yells, ‘I am your minister and you’re a f*cking piece of sh*t and you’re a f*cking loser’," Melnyk claims. Confused, Melnyk tried to speak but got shut down by a final "F*ck you!" from MacLeod.

MacLeod, who serves as Ontario's Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, addressed the incident on Twitter on Friday morning.

"Let me set the record straight, I gave [Eugene Melnyk] some feedback at the Rolling Stones concert and I apologized to him for being so blunt," she wrote. "I have serious concerns about the state of our beloved Ottawa Senators! We need to get our team back on the road to winning the cup!"

Needless to say, people didn't seem to think that her "serious concerns" about Ottawa's NHL team warranted that kind of name-calling.

Melnyk says that he's so shaken by MacLeod's behaviour that he's decided to take it up with Doug Ford. He tells the Sun that he wrote the premier a letter.

"I wrote a letter to Doug Ford. I don’t want to make a big point of this, but I said, ‘FYI. You’ve got a loose cannon out there. That’s not the way you talk in public at a public event. You better take care of this’," says Melnyk.
