The retail chain is dedicating the money to 23 stores across the country.
Walmart lovers, rejoice! The retail chain just announced that they're dedicating $175 million to upgrade stores across the country and it sounds like it's going to be good.
By February 2019, 23 stores across Newfoundland, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and British Colombia will be getting revamped.
Physical updates will include giving the stores a fresh, modern new look. They will be introducing new signage and a new colour scheme. They will also be widening aisles and updating the exterior of some storefronts to provide better access.
The physical updates to the 23 stores will create more than 2,500 new construction jobs across the country.
They're also dedicating the money to improving their e-commerce operations. They plan on expanding their online grocery pickup service to 73 new stores this year. New parking spaces will also be added specifically for the service. Stores will also have new areas inside devoted to online orders.
Most exciting of all, they plan on expanding their product assortment to include more organic and ethnic selections.
The 23 stores chosen to undergo revamps include:
Newfoundland: Mount Pearl, St. John's Aberdeen, St. John's Kelsey
Quebec: Mascouche, Saint-Hyacinthe
Ontario: Ajax, Barrie North, Brampton North, Burlington, Guelph North, Kitchener West, Ottawa Barrhaven, Richmond Hill North, Thunder Bay, Wasaga Beach, Windsor East
