2 Women Were Assaulted At An Ontario Music Festival This Weekend And Police Say The Crimes Were Connected
Two incidents of sexual assault were linked to the same suspect at the Country Fest Fairground.
Ontario Provincial Police are asking for help in identifying a male suspect wanted on charges related to two Ontario music festival sexual assaults. The Manitoulin Detachment of the OPP and Manitoulin-Sudbury Emergency Medical Services responded to a report of a female with injuries at the Country Fest Fairground in Little Current, Ontario. Officers responded to the call at around 2:00 a.m on Sunday, Aug. 11.
According to Manitoulin, police disclosed that a female attendee of the music festival was walking back to her campsite when the suspect assaulted her. The woman was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers were investigating the first attack when the second incident of sexual assault at the fairground was reported.
“The investigation has since revealed that a female in attendance at the annual Manitoulin Country Fest) was walking back to her campsite when she was assaulted by an unknown male,” police stated according to The Sudbury Star. “She was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Police believe the two events are linked and are seeking to identify one suspect,” the statement concluded.
Police have described the suspect as having a slim build. He is expected to be around 19 years old, standing at 5'11 with short dark hair.
