It's been quite a week so far for weather in Ontario. Monday started off with rain, and as of Thursday, parts of the province woke up to around 50 cm of snow that completely took over cities. The Ontario snowfall last night was one for the books, and people are sharing pictures online of the aftermath. Environment Canada issued snow squall weather warnings for much of the cottage country and north of the GTA for Wednesday. While some nasty weather was obviously expected, the amount of snow that hit down in some parts of Ontario was shocking. The amount of snow that was originally predicted was up to 25 cm in Northern Ontario, and up to 15cm in Southern Ontario. However, it seems that Barrie and Muskoka got a lot more than they bargained for. Ontarians actually woke up to around 40-50cm in certain areas, such as in Bracebridge and Barrie. Of course, residents took to Twitter to post pictures of their cities that now looked like they belonged in the North Pole. This is the kind of Canadian winter we have been anticipating, and here it is.It looks like the snow squall warnings have ceased after the storm. For now, that is. That is a hefty amount to pile up after just a few hours. While other Twitter users showcased their patios being buried by snow and hazardous road conditions. It looks shovels aren't going to cut it to get this storm cleaned up. People will need full-blown snow blowers. Port Sydney/Huntsville area currently being hit by a nasty snow squall. There has already been one fatality reported on the road after a terrifying pile-up on Highway 401 in Ontario on Wednesday.Meanwhile, in Toronto, it's supposed to rain again on Saturday. There might be a bit of snow mixed in with that precipitation if it gets colder.
