You Can Ride The OC Transpo For Free On New Year's Eve
No need to sneak on the back this time.
2016 really is going to be like no other New Year in Ottawa. After all, we're welcoming in Canada's big 150 and there's no place we'd rather be than downtown. To kick off the celebrations on Parliament Hill and elsewhere downtown, the OC Transpo is offering free bus service on New Year's Eve.
The free bus fare will start earlier than usual at 4:30pm and will continue into the early hours of 2017 until 3:00am on Jan. 1. Since there's going to be a ton of events going on downtown, the OC Transpo says to expect delays on Mackenzie King Bridge at Rideau Centre between 7-8pm. The bridge will be closed to everyone from 8pm until 2am, but usual bus services, like the 95 and 94, will continue on Albert or Slater Streets and Laurier Station.
Several other roads will be closed in the downtown core due to celebrations and it's encouraged that riders check OC Transpo's website on info about delays and detours.
