Winter is never truly complete without a classic skate down the Rideau Canal in Ottawa. The only thing that could make this wintery adventure more magical is, of course, booze, and this year sipping while you skate might just become a reality! An Ottawa Canal booze shop is in the works, and we're already lacing up our skates.\nThis stunning frosty skateway draws 20,000 visitors daily, and is the largest natural skating rink in the world! Whether you skate the entire 7.8 km track or get cold feet after the first little while, it's an experience Canadians love to take part in.\nView this post on Instagram ⛸ A post shared by Evan Taylor (@evanotaylor) on Feb 5, 2017 at 3:23pm PST\nAccording to a CBC report, a pop-up shop selling boozy drinks is currently being planned as a two-year pilot project beginning this winter.\nThe shop would be in the form of a plastic igloo, where visitors can take a break from skating to order some alcoholic beverages.\nThe igloo will be part of a limited drinking area, where guests can rest and enjoy beverages while looking out over the glassy canal. You can’t take your drink with you as you continue your skate, but the bar serves as the perfect excuse for a skating break!*\nThe National Capital Commission (NCC) is considering opening up the "Bistro On Ice" around kilometre zero in celebration of the skateway's 50th anniversary, reports CBC.\nHowever, the bar has yet to be confirmed as officially happening, as details are still being processed.\nView this post on Instagram Feeling like a real Canadian here! 🇨🇦 I spent the last few days on the east coast in Ottawa enjoying the very best winter has to offer.
