Ottawa Has Already Had 2 Shootings This Year & It's Only January 2
Police are searching for one suspect.
It's only been 2020 for a couple of days, and yet there are already reports of crimes being committed. The Ottawa Police Service has reported that two shootings have already taken place in the nation's capital.
The first shooting took place in the early hours of . At 4:30 a.m., shots were fired inside of a residence in Willow Creek Circle. No one was injured in the incident.
Police arrested three suspects in the case, all of whom have since been released. Police do not believe there are any other outstanding suspects in this incident.

Ottawa's second shooting took place later the same day. At 10:29 p.m., shots were fired near Somerset Street West and Bronson Avenue.
In this case, one 44-year-old man suffered injuries that were deemed serious but non-life threatening.
Police have released a description of the suspect in this incident, describing him as "a Caucasian man in his 40s." During the time of the shooting, he was reported to be wearing "a grey and black hoodie with a jean shirt underneath, blue jeans, black and white shoes." A photo of the suspect was also released.
Ottawa Police are also asking anyone with information regarding the second shooting to contact the Guns and Gangs Unit.

These two shootings follow a year in which the number of shootings in Ottawa dropped. Police responded to 72 shootings in 2019 as compared to 78 in 2018.
Meanwhile, Toronto saw itstake place on New Year's Day with a fatal double shooting occurring downtown at 10:30 p.m.
