Hail in August? Seems unlikely, but apparently, parts of Ontario are under a storm watch and the weather could cause severe damages! An Ottawa storm headed to the city Wednesday afternoon and into the evening is bringing strong gusts of wind and large hail.\nSo much for the last few days of summer! These large balls of hail can cause some pretty rough damage to property and even cause injury. Hail and strong winds are a harsh mix as heavy winds can easily contribute to more damages along the way.\nSo, make sure to stay indoors if you see any signs of an incoming storm!\nAccording to The Weather Network, this storm watch covers the most part of south-eastern Ontario, where multiple storms could make an appearance across the board.\nThe Weather Network\nIt seems like we can't catch a break from these storms.\nJust last night, some tweets showed a lightning show in the GTA and outer parts of Ontario.\nWhat a light show it was last night in parts of Ontario. Downtown was lit up from all the lightning strikes. In the 2nd pic, you can see how bright it is in the reflection of the building from a nearby lightning strike.#ldnont #ONStorm #weather#Lightning #ShareYourWeather #nofilter pic.twitter.com/v04DzhzQxe— Love London Ontario (@ontario_love) August 21, 2019\nEven though it mainly stayed out in the middle of the lake, this morning’s storm still put on a light show downtown that lasted for more than hour and a half. #onstorm Did you sleep through it? pic.twitter.com/pJNPxzwhsg— Kevin Frankish (@KevinFrankish) August 21, 2019\n#onstorm view from Innisfil @weathernetwork pic.twitter.com/3KvTmDjXfo— Daniel Scavuzzo (@dbootso) August 21, 2019\nThe Weather Network is also warning that certain areas are at risk of localized flooding. Notably, it's suggested that some Kawartha Lakes areas could see 30 to 50 mm of rain in just a few hours.\nHail, winds, and thunder showers are never a good mix. Make sure to give yourself some time this afternoon if you will be out and about, but most importantly, try to stay indoors.\nIn case of any developments and increased severity, stay prepared and ready.\nThere are stories everywhere.
