A record has been broken in the National Capital and it’s not a good one. On September 22, Ottawa’s COVID-19 cases reached an all-time daily high.

On Tuesday morning, Ontario’s minister of health revealed that 90 new cases had been reported in Ottawa.

According to CTV News, this is the biggest daily increase ever reported in the city and beat the previous record of 76 new cases on April 29.

This comes as cases across the province continue to climb, prompting stronger restrictions to be implemented once again.

On the same day, Ontario reported that 478 people had tested positive for the illness over the last 24 hours, including 153 in Toronto and 95 in Peel.

Last week, Ottawa's top doctor admitted that the city was likely experiencing the second wave of COVID-19.
