Another worrying spike has been spotted in Ottawa’s COVID-19 figures. As cases in the city continue to climb, O-Town’s daily numbers are almost as high as Toronto’s.

The latest statistics, shared by Ottawa Public Health on Tuesday, show that the city’s total number of cases has now reached 3,134.

This is an increase of 36 cases in just 24 hours.

New cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa

With the GTA reporting 48 new cases on the same day, it seems the gap between the two cities' daily increase is closing in.

A day earlier, Toronto confirmed 60 new cases while Ottawa reported 25.

The Toronto region has a population of around 6,196,731 people, while the National Capital Region is home to approximately 1.3 million residents.

This comes as more and more young people continue to be diagnosed with the illness in Ottawa.

Multiple local schools have also reported new cases since reopening.
