The Largest Tulip Festival In The World Starts In Ottawa Tomorrow
The time we have all been waiting for is finally here. The one where all the rain stops and we can step outside again without dreading it. Oh, and the one where the Canadian Tulip Festival finally starts back up again in Ottawa.
This year, which marks the 65th year of this festival, is also super special since it's Canada 150. All along Dow's Lake is a 1k view of straight tulips. With over 250,000 tulips just in that one spot, you'll be mesmorized by how beautiful they are. They also have a special Canada 150 tulip, which are red and white tulips.
Even though these tulips are scattered around the city, with over a million tulips all together, Dow's Lake is where all of the magic happens. From Lansdowne Park, to the Garden Promenade, to Dow's Lake, the downtown core is filled with tulips during this time.
Not only that, they also have booths where you can buy treats like ice cream, lemonade, fudge, etc. This place is super nostalgic for every Ottawan, since it's been around for most of our lives.
The Canadian Tulip Festival is mostly free, except if you want to do workshops or tours. At Lansdowne Park, day passes are on sale for $15 which gets you a wide variety of exhibits. Of course, the Dow's Lake explosion of tulips is completely free for all to see. For the 65th anniversary, TD Place is hosting a fireworks show on May 21st that is $20 each. You can bring your own lawn chair or blanket, and watch as the fireworks fill the sky.
The Canadian Tulip Festival is on from May 12th - May 22nd, and you definitely don't want to miss out on this beautiful festival. Now that the weather is getting nicer, you'll be able to enjoy the sun and the beautiful views of Ottawa in the spring!
