Over 1 Million Ram Trucks Are Being Recalled In Canada And The US, Here's What's Affected
Fiat Chrysler had to recall over 1.4 million trucks recently.
Fiat Chrysler, the automotive group that owns and makes Ram trucks just issued a massive recall.
Over 1.4 million pickup trucks in Canada and the United States are being recalled because their tailgates could pop open at any time leading to an accident on the roads.
The recall affects Ram 1500, 2500, 3500 pick up trucks made between 2015 and 2017. On these trucks, the power locking tailgate is faulty and could simply open while the truck is moving.
This is super dangerous for other drivers, as any cargo that flies out the back of a truck that's moving quickly could pose a serious risk to the cars around it. Not to mention, the truck drivers are at risk of losing any of their personal belongings they keep back there.
The company has received over 5000 complaints and warranty claims from customers whose tailgates have malfunctioned; however, there have not been any crashes or injuries reported because of this problem.
For drivers whose trucks are affected by the recall, they are being advised to take their vehicle to their Ram dealership, where the power-lock on the tailgate will be repaired at no cost to the owner.
This is the second major recall for Fiat Chrysler this year. Two months ago the companyin Canda due to malfunctioning cruise control.
