If you were hoping to make plans for summer 2021, you may have to wait a little longer to make Parks Canada reservations.

In an announcement on Monday, November 23, the organization confirmed that their reservation services would not be reopening in January.

Instead, Canadians will have to wait until April next year to make their outdoor-inspired vacation plans.

“This will allow visitors to make their reservations closer to the date of travel and with more information to help plan their visit,” explained the Parks Canada notice.

Per the statement, the delay will give Parks Canada “additional time to monitor the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”

They’ll also be able to make any “necessary changes” to grounds, campsites and experiences ahead of the 2021 visitor season.

Though no specific dates have been shared just yet, Parks Canada confirmed that reservation launches will be staggered throughout April.

By then, wannabe visitors will be able to make bookings for trips between May 2021 and March 22.

For national parks that offer camping through the winter and spring, reservations are open for dates until the end of March.

Bookings for April can be made as of December 16, 2020.
