Rogers Canada Releases Unlimited Phone Data Plans With No Overcharge Fees For First Time Ever
No more fees for going over your data usage!
It's no secret that many Canadians are fed up with paying super high phone bills. Phone plans in Canada do not come cheap, and it looks like even the phone companies are starting to take action. Rogers has debuted a brand new phone plan and it's a game changer. Rogers' new unlimited phone data plans are unlike any offers they've had before, but they do come with a catch.
The new plan is called "Rogers Infinite" and it gives you unlimited data and also no overcharge fees – so you won't be hit with a surprisingly pricey phone bill when you accidentally go over your data.
According to MTL Blog, 8GB data phone plans in Canada cost on average $68. So this could be a good deal when you consider the other options out there. However, while it's unlimited data, the amount of high-speed data you get does have a cap.
So how does it work? Simply put, Canadians can pay $75 a month for unlimited data on their cell phone. "Plans start at $75 for 10GB of max speed data per month for each line, so you can stream all the video, music and content you need," says Rogers on their website.
However, there is a catch – once you reach 10GB of data, your Internet speed will slow down, but it will still be unlimited. "You then have unlimited data at reduced speeds so you can still text, and use basic email, browsing and apps," says the company.
If you want more high-speed data, you'll need to add onto the $75 plan. Customers can add on a Speed Pass to their monthly phone plan for $15. This gives you an additional 3 GB of high-speed Internet.
It doesn't matter whether you're an existing or new Rogers customer, because this plan is available to all Canadians. All you have to do is go to the Rogers website or go to your local Rogers store and select the right Infinite plan for you.
“Canadians want worry-free wireless and these new plans will give our customers peace of mind so they can use as much data as they want,” said Joe Natale, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rogers Communications, in a news release. “This is about putting our customers first, and helping them get the most out of their wireless services.”
Rogers will release their Infinite plans tomorrow on June 13*. However, that's not all! The company has promised more affordable options for Canadians.
"Later this summer, Rogers will also launch new financing options giving customers more affordable smartphone and device opportunities," reads a news release from Rogers Communications.
Here's hoping that more affordable phone plans continue to hit the Canadian market soon. To find out more about the new Rogers Infinite phone plans, you can visit their website.
