It's no secret that the Toronto and Vancouver housing markets are pretty insane right now. Even with governments trying to crack down on the ever-rising cost of renting or even buying a place, prices just keep going up and up. It seems that high costs have caused Vancouver natives to reach an all-time level of desperate when it comes to looking for a place to stay. Somebody is literally trying to auction off a unit in Yaletown in exchange for being their girlfriend. Sugar daddies definitely exist but Kijiji just seems like an odd place to propose such a thing. Of course, fellow Reddit users reacted to the weird but also oddly sad post:\nComment from discussion Welcome to the Vancouver real estate market.\nComment from discussion Welcome to the Vancouver real estate market.\n\n\nComment from discussion Welcome to the Vancouver real estate market.\nThe post definitely does seem suspect even though the request seems to just be someone who wants a female friend. Though according to Reddit users this definitely isn't the first and probably won't be the last post of it's kind in the Vancouver housing market. Many mentioned that this is rather tame in comparison to other posts they've seen in the past. \n\nRegardless, it's pretty fair to say that if the housing market is so tough that people think that posts like these will actually work, then something is seriously wrong. Hopefully, the recent changes Vancouver has been making to their housing and renting laws will subdue these odd roommate propositions.
