The Founder Of Popular Canadian Beauty Brand Deciem Has Died
Brandon Truaxe, Deciem founder, died this past weekend and was 40 years old.
It was announced today that Deciem's founder and former CEO, Brandon Truaxe, died this past weekend. Brandon Truaxe has passed away at age 40. Deciem is a popular beauty brand that started in Canada.
The acting CEO of Deciem confirmed Truaxe's death in an email to all of Deciem's staff, which Vox shared today.
"I can’t believe I am typing these words. Brandon has passed away over the weekend. Heartbroken doesn’t come close to how I, and how I know many of you will be feeling," wrote acting CEO Nicola Kilner in the email.
The announcement continued, "All offices, warehouses, factories and stores please close today and take the time to cry with sadness, smile at the good times we had, reflect on what his genius built and hug your loved ones that little harder".
The CEO also expressed how shocking the founder's death was to the company. "We are all in disbelief and shock but I will be in touch again very soon. I love you all incredibly much, as did he", concluded the email.
It has not been revealed yet what the cause of his death was. Truaxe's death comes as a shock to many and despite admitting to being an occasional drug user, Truaxe reportedly seemed to be in good physical health.
Last year was a difficult one for the Deciem founder. He was ousted from the beauty brand company back. He also back in October 2018, but the shutdown did not last long.
According to Vox, the Financial Post reported in December that Truaxe had been hospitalized allegedly due to mental health issues. Truaxe himself denied that he had been diagnosed with a mental illness, but he did admit that he used various drugs, Vox reports.
More to come.
