One Of The Youngest Mayors In Canada Is Being Praised For Moving Back In With His Mom, Here's Why
This mayor is a true Canadian hero.
North Dundas is a small town just south of Ottawa. The town is quaint and charming, and a lot of people have probably never heard of it. But their mayor has been getting a lot of attention lately.
Eric Duncan, who is one of the youngest mayors in Canada, is being praised after he moved back in with his mom and voluntarily gave up his home for a family of refugees.
The people in North Dundas pooled their resources in 2015 to sponsor a refugee family to come to Canada from Syria. They had enough money to sponsor the family, but need somewhere for them to live.
That is when Mayor Eric Duncan stepped in.
On his Instagram, Duncan shared how blessed he was to have been able to help the refugee family by giving up his home for them to live in for five months. During that time, he moved back home to live with his mom.
News of Duncan's selfless actions have been circulating around the internet and on Reddit, the small town mayor is been praised for what he did.
Duncan has been called a hero, a good mayor, and in general a good dude. In response to his Instagram post, people in his town have also praised him for supporting and bringing more diversity to their community.
According to Duncan's post, he says the family has now happily moved into their own rental home in Winchester, a village in North Dundas and he is back in his own house.
