This Video Of An Aggressive Toronto Man Terrorizing A Family With Racist Insults Is Going Viral
A video captures a horrifying confrontation between a racist and a young man with his family at Toronto's Jack Layton Ferry Terminal.
A video published to Reddit last night exposes the ugly reality of racism in Toronto, a city celebrated for its diversity. The video shows a man instigating an aggressive confrontation with a young man holding a child's hand at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, frightening his family so much that they called 911.
At the start of the video, the instigator gets into the young man's face and asks him a question. The young man responds, saying his breath "reeks like alcohol." "I don't give a f*ck," he yells back, "You don't tell me what to do in my province!"
The instigator continues to curse at him, demanding that he answer his question because it's his "f*cking province." The camera pans around the area, revealing a large group of what appears to be the young man's family members. There are several kids around, and everyone appears worried as tension between the two men starts to build.
The instigator pushes one of the men in the group, who immediately pushes him back. He throws his drink at the family and continues to curse and make threats. The woman holding the camera urges them to back off because the instigator is clearly intoxicated.
That's when they dialed 911. "We're at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, this man is abusing my brother," the woman says on the phone, "He is touching him, he is pushing him."
"Where the f*ck are you from?!" the instigator yells. "I was born here!" he yells back, followed by more pushing and shoving. The young man tells his family to go into the ferry terminal and stands protectively in front of them. Two security guards show up to help.
The instigator starts yelling at the top of his lungs, calling him a "piece of sh*t" and threatens to smash his head in. He repeats "you don't ask me a question in my f*cking province!"
The video has gotten hundreds of comments, many expressing concern for the kids who witnessed the whole thing. "I can't stop thinking about how upset the little boy was," one Redditor writes, "You could just tell by how he was pacing and pulling at his face. The little girl looked unsure/scared as well but that little boy pacing... breaks my heart."
