Tim Hortons Has A Brand New Limited Edition Donut Available Today Only
It has whipped cream, vanilla fondant and Canada-red sprinkles!
If you are looking for a reason to treat yourself this Saturday- look no further! Tim Hortons has teamed up with Special Olympics Canada to create a delicious, one-of-a-kind, limited edition donut, to celebrate the first anniversary of Global Day of Inclusion. Because all of the proceeds from the donut will go towards Special Olympics Canada programs, and because the donut looks so divine it would be rude not to!
The one-day-only donut was designed and created by Tori Ranson, who is a 26-year-old Special Olympics athlete. Ranson, whose creation was chosen from more than 400 submissions, is a member of the Georgetown and Milton Special Olympics clubs in Ontario.
Ranson’s specially designed donut features a cruller sliced in half and loaded with whipped cream, vanilla fondant and red sprinkles. Pictures of the donut have already been shared numerous times on social media, and it looks pretty delicious!
Speaking about her creation, Ranson explained that she chose red sprinkles on the donut to represent Canada. All of the profits from her donut will go towards Special Olympics programs in Canada, which is an exciting prospect for Ranson.
"Special Olympics has been a huge part of my life for over 12 years," she said. "I love the friendships I have found over the years through Special Olympics. I have a lot of great buddies. I can't wait to see people enjoying my doughnut.”
The aim of Global Day of Inclusion is to raise awareness of the importance of recognizing people with any kind of challenges for what they CAN do, rather than what they can't.
The President of Tim Hortons, Alex Macedo, said "community is at the heart of who we are as a brand at Tim Hortons. We're proud of the role our restaurant owners play in communities and are thrilled to be working with an organization that shares our core value of inclusion.”
Tim Hortons have also announced a competition for those who purchase a Special Olympics Donut. If you post a picture of your donut and post it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #ChooseToInclude, tagging @TimHortons, @SpecialOCanada and your location, your Community/Club will receive $25.00 from Special Olympics Ontario!
Photos will then be entered into a contest. The most creative photo will win a $500 Tim’s Card for your program.
The donut will only be available in participating restaurants for one day, on July 20. The donut costs approximately $1.69 plus tax, depending on your area. All proceeds will go to Special Olympics Canada.
