York Regional Police have confirmed that the 22-year-old victim who was allegedly abducted in the Toronto area last weekend has been found. Last Saturday, Wanzhen Lu, a Chinese citizen, was abducted by four suspects in a Markham parking garage at around 6:00 PM.  The garage is located in the Highway 7 and Birchmount Road area. Lu, who is also known by his friends and family as Peter, is an international student in Toronto.

Police reported that when a Dodge Caravan drove up to Lu and his female friend in the condo parking garage, three suspects exited the car and approached Lu as he walked toward the elevators.  The fourth suspect remained in the vehicle.

Lu was shocked with a conducted energy weapon numerous times before the suspects forced him inside the vehicle.  His friend was unharmed during the attack.  According to police, the attack was recorded on the garage's video surveillance cameras.

It wasn't until late Tuesday evening that Lu appeared at a Gravenhurst, Ontario residence asking for help, reported York Regional Police Const. Andy Pattenden.  He told reporters that Lu was found safe and was immediately taken to hospital with only minor injuries.

Here is a clip of the police audio describing Lu's escape on Tuesday night in the Gravenhurst area:

"Shortly before 9:00 PM, a man walked up to a residence on Doe Lake Road in Gravenhurst and he was looking for help.  He knocked on the door of the residence and a homeowner found him there and called police right away.  I can tell you that officers with the Ontario Provincial Police attended and found the man and have identified him as 22-year-old Wanzhen Lu.”

"I can tell you that our investigators have been in very close contact with Lu’s family prior to their arrival in Canada from China and since they’ve been here our investigators have been able to provide this great news to the family, who I’m sure are sincerely relieved at this time," he said.

Pattenden has commented that this case is "far from over", and indicated that Lu is in the midst of a series of interviews with investigators.

"Four suspects are still outstanding in this case," Pattenden told reporters. "We’re very concerned that they are still out there and I can tell you that our efforts are far from over.  We are going to continue with this until those four suspects are found and brought into custody.”

The vehicle used by the suspects in the attack and abduction was found on Sunday night at an unspecified location in Toronto.  Pattenden also referred to the fact that the motive behind Lu's abduction is still unknown.

It was reported that a 35-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in connection to Lu's abduction.  However, the suspect was released “unconditionally” with no charges laid against him, according to Pattenden.
