23-Year-Old Impaired Driver Caught Racing Over 200 Km/Hr On Toronto's Gardiner Expressway

This is definitely a scary driving stunt that we would not have liked to see. A 23-year-old impaired Toronto driver was charged for going over 200 km/hr on the Gardiner Expressway. The speed limit on the Gardiner is 90 km/hr, so this means that he was going 110 km/hr over it. 

The incident took place early this morning. The 23-year-old was driving a Honda. He has been arrested by the police and is now facing several charges, on top of speeding.

"Early this morning a @TrafficServices officer stopped a Honda on the Gardiner Expressway for going 204 km/h in a 90 km/h zone," wrote Detective Constable with the Traffic Services of the Toronto Police, Scott Matthews, in a tweet earlier today.

Officers believe that the man was driving under the influence of alcohol. "Detecting the odour of alcohol, the officer requested a sample of his breath where he refused."

Matthews said in another tweet that the 23-year-old driver had been charged with dangerous driving, refusing a breath sample, and stunt driving.

Fortunately, no one was injured or hurt as a result of this driving stunt, including the allegedly impaired driver. However, crews told CP24 that the driver is seriously lucky that no injuries took place as a result of his driving since he was driving at “an extremely high rate of speed”.
