In speaking with CP24, Demircan who was grazed on the arm by a bullet revealed that he was hanging out with some friends, enjoying a coffee on a bench in the area when they heard the gunshots.

At first, they believed it was just firecrackers but when they heard screaming and saw people running, they realized it was actually gunfire. His friends began running but he decided to duck down and hide behind the bench.

Demircan says the gunman, Fasail Hussain, stopped for about one minute and in that time Reese Fallon, who was the 18-year-old killed in the shooting, ran up to him begging for help. At that point in time, she had only been shot in the arm.

He says he got her to sit down on the bench while he called 9-1-1 but less than a minute later the shooting started up again. According to Demircan, it was then that his friend came and pulled him away from Reese just before she was shot three or four times.

Demircan says the scene was like a war zone with people screaming and crying while first responders arrived and began trying to help people.
