60-year-old Hung-Wai David Wong of Toronto has been charged by police for allegedly buying liquor for teenagers and selling it to them at a markup. Wong, who owns a store called Winners Lotto Mart in Little Italy, was operating an illegal liquor procurement business out of his convenience retail location. READ ALSO: Two Ontario Men Stole An ATM Through The Window Of A Grocery Store Last Night According to Toronto police, Wong issued orders from teenagers, purchased the liquor legally from a local LCBO location, and then sold it to the teens illegally and "at a profit." The transactions reportedly occurred out of his convenience mart at 299 Ossington Avenue, in Toronto's Little Italy neighbourhood. He was charged with two different offences: selling liquor to a person under the age of 19, as well as selling liquor illegally without a license. Both of these laws are outlined in Ontario's Liquor License Act. Under Section 5.1 the act states that no one can sell liquor without a license in Ontario. The penalty for breaking that law is a fine up to $100,000 and up to a year in jail. For selling to a minor, which here means anyone under 19 years old, the Liquor License Act outlines a fine of up to $200,000 and up to one year in jail. He is expected to make a court appearance on April 18th at Old City Hall, where he will answer to these charges.
