An Ontario man got very, very lucky this week thanks to a Toronto LCBO and an online error. Mohammed Asaduallah received around $940 worth of absolutely free wine last week after noticing that the price listed online for one bottle was $0. And, honestly, it's just got us wishing we'd seen it first! Asaduallah, a local entrepreneur and business owner, told his story in a lengthy Twitter thread on August 19 and it is absolutely worth the ride. I am not joking. Here's what happened,” he began. Asaduallah went on to explain that, as he was browsing a group in which sales and coupons on alcohol are often posted, he noticed a post stating that a specific LCBO wine was on sale for zero dollars on their website. At first, Asaduallah says he thought it surely must be an error and that it would not allow him to check out with free wine in his cart. He added a bottle of whiskey to the order, to hit the LCBO’s minimum online purchase of $50. Much to his surprise, it actually allowed him to check out with four whole boxes worth of wine — all for free. Anywho, I log in to see if anyone posted any whisky on clearance in Toronto last month to come across a post about a guy asking about this bottle of Mondavi wine listed at $0.I mean, it's LCBO. How can something be listed for $0? pic.twitter.com/tkB2odhnpb— Mohammed Asaduallah (@heymosef) August 19, 2020 After over 10 days with no shipment confirmation email, he was assuming it was an oversight that would be rectified. But then, the news came in. There was a four-box order of wine waiting for Asaduallah at his local LCBO! When he entered the store, he saw a small box waiting for him and assumed he had only received his whiskey. Just then, though, the cashier told him to wait, as they had to go "get the boxes." His wine order had gone through. After a few minutes of what felt like hours, the rep finally comes back with a small box which I figured was the whisky.I started feeling discouraged when they said, "hold on, I need to get someone to help me lift the boxes."WHATTT!? I *did* get those bottles of wine!? WHAT?!— Mohammed Asaduallah (@heymosef) August 19, 2020 In yet another surprising twist, Asaduallah realized, upon leaving the store, that they had not given him the bottles of wine worth $12 each that he ordered. Instead, he was masking off with four boxes of bottles that were three times as expensive, priced at $36 each. He actually decided he would be a good samaritan, re-enter the store, and ask about the mix-up. In summary, this is the story of how I picked up 24 bottles of red wine worth a total of ~$940 from the LCBO — for free.I highly doubt the ecommerce manager will ever let this happen again, and I apologize to everyone in advance for that.Who would have expected this?— Mohammed Asaduallah (@heymosef) August 19, 2020 But even after that, following a lengthy conversation with both management and customer service, LCBO allegedly let Asaduallah walk away with the four boxes of wine for a total of almost $1000 worth of wine. After all, he didn't techinally do anything wrong! Narcity reached out to LCBO for comment. But, in situations like this, it's best not to ask why, but to ask wine not. We're all very jealous, Mohammed.
