Toronto Police have released a statement about 45-year-old Phillip Gaudet, who's been arrested and charged in a "Mischief - Endanger Life" investigation following an incident at Queen St. East and Jarvis Street last Friday. Police were called to the scene at around 12:34 AM on July 13th, after reports of a personal injury collision. Allegedly, Gaudet tore a bunch of wire from a pole near the intersection. He proceeded to use the wire as a weapon in a random attack. Via Songwut Aunwijit Gaudet reportedly stretched the wire across a roadway and waited for someone to approach. A person on a motorcycle rode by, and Gaudet tightened the wire. Police say that the motorcyclist was "clotheslined" off his bike, meaning that the wire obstructed his path and knocked him down. Police didn't reveal how seriously the motorcyclist was injured from the fall. They also didn't specify if the attack was provoked, or completely random. But, Gaudet was identified and arrested. He now faces three separate charges. Via Jarvis St. & Queen St. East, Google Maps Police have charged him with assault with a weapon, mischief and endangering life, and failing to comply with recognizance. Gaudet appeared in College Park court this morning at 10:00 AM. Police ask anyone with information that may be helpful to contact them at 416-808-5100.
