Amazon Is Hiring Over 600 Full-Time Employees (With Benefits!) In Toronto Right Now

After building facilities in Brampton, Mississauga, Milton, Caledon and Ottawa, Amazon is bringing even more job opportunities to the GTA. A new fulfillment center will be opening up in Scarborough, offering full-time Amazon Toronto jobs to the public. The news was announced today, and not only will the one-million-square-foot facility provide over 600 employment opportunities but those jobs will also include comprehensive benefits.
Brenda Alfred, Amazon Strategic Communications, told Narcity that the location, at 6351 Steeles Ave. E. in Scarborough does not currently have an estimated opening date and will begin hiring in the weeks prior to the opening.*
Candidates must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent qualification to be considered.
According to the press release, this will be the 12th fulfillment centre in Canada for Amazon, which already employs more than 4,000 full-timers in Ontario alone.
With this job, you'll be required to pick, pack, and ship small items to customers. These will range from toys and baby products to small electronics at this robotics facility.
As a full-time employee, benefits include medical, vision, and dental coverage. You can also take part in a group RRSP plan and stock awards, as well as performance-based bonuses from the day you start.
"We're excited to welcome Amazon's first fulfillment centre in the City of Toronto and the more than 600 new, good jobs that will be created in Scarborough," said Toronto Mayor John Tory in the press release.
Just last year,At the time, Amazon was also looking to hire 600 people for full-time positions plus a 1,500-strong construction team to build it.
If you ever thought of going back to school, Amazon also offers employees access to Career Choice, where the company will pay up to 95 percent of tuition for courses. However, the courses should relate to in-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills you learn are relevant to working at Amazon.
"We're excited about our growth in Toronto, which gives us the opportunity to better serve our customers in the region," said Vibhore Arora, Director of Regional Operations of Amazon Canada, in the press release.
Back in 2018, Amazon had announced plans to create more than 6,000 new jobs across Canada.
"Business is booming in Ontario and today's announcement by Amazon is further proof that our plan is working to make Ontario open for business and open for jobs," said Ontario Premier Doug Ford.
There is no mention yet of when this facility will open or when the hiring will commence but keep your eye out for any updates. This is a perfect opportunity for students to make some money and also take advantage of their tuition program.
