Toronto police have issued an Amber Alert for a 14-year-old boy on Thursday, March 5, 2020. Investigators believe that Shammah Jolayemi, who was last seen on Wednesday at 8:25 a.m. near the intersection of Jane St. and Driftwood Ave., was abducted. Jolayemi reportedly screamed for help as he was forced into a black jeep.

Toronto police have released a photo of Jolayemi to aid in the investigation. The boy is being described as a 5’11, slim build, with short dark hair. Anyone who sees him is being asked to call 911 immediately.

“He was last seen wearing a grey hooded sweater, grey track pants with a thin orange stripe on the pants, a shiny black puffy winter coat, black and yellow air Jordan shoes and may have been carrying a red and black Adidas back pack,” reads a description from a police news release.

Police describe the vehicle as “a black Jeep Wrangler with oversized tires, a front-mounted brush bar, and round fog lights.”

At around 8:25 a.m., the 14-year-old was seen being forced into a jeep by two men. The men are described as six feet tall between the ages of 18 and 22.

According to CTV News, the boy’s parents didn’t alert police to the matter until 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday as they believed their son was still in school.

Police have spoken to all members of Jolayemi’s family except for his stepbrother Olalekan Osikoya who they suspect might know why the boy was taken.

“This is not a parental abduction,” Toronto police Inspector Jim Gotell told CTV. “We don’t believe this was a joke or any type of prank.”

“To the two people who took this 14-year-old this morning, we are asking them to release the 14-year-old to a place of safety where he can be returned to his family,” he added.

Investigators do not think the abduction is a prank or the result of a custody dispute. Police have noted that they are “extremely concerned” for Jolayemi’s safety.

Anyone with any further information about the case is being asked to call 416-808-3100 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
