Ontario’s capital city got a visit from a former president on January 23. Barack Obama was in Toronto to speak at an event put on by the Economic Club of Canada and the Global Institute for Conscious Economics. There, he revealed his favourite thing about Canadians.\n“You're just so reasonable,” the ex-president said, according to the Canadian Press, “Canadians are super reasonable.”\nIn addition, the former U.S. leader noted that “facts still matter” in the country, saying that the nation should “preserve that,” according to the Toronto Star.\nAbout 6,000 people attended the event. While tickets were expensive, free access was granted to youth from various communities.\nThe theme of the night was exploring the future of work and the emerging new economy. Obama’s major point was that young people need to find skills that help them stand out.\n“Anything that’s replicable, anything that’s repeatable, some machine is going to do better,” he said. He even used the Toronto Raptors’ success to highlight the importance of teambuilding, saying that the team’s president, Masai Ujiri, works with people who have diverse points of view.\nThe former president also talked about the importance of fighting climate change. He used the opportunity to take a shot at Trump and criticized the rollback of one of his major environmental policies.\nView this post on Instagram What a day!
