Most Canadians know that having a job is a necessary evil. While you can enjoy what you do every day, sometimes it can be hard to have the motivation to go to work. 

One thing that may get you excited about working again is the idea of being a "puppy raiser." The job title may sound confusing, but realistically you get to hang out with baby dogs all day and raise them to be well behaved.

National Service Dogs is in desperate need of puppy raisers this October for a new litter that's expected shortly. The company is responsible for training the best service dogs in Canada and help those with disabilities by providing them with an exceptional service animal.

So what does a puppy raiser do? Well, in addition to loving, cuddling, feeding and cleaning up after your dog, you will also be responsible to ensure they're in tip-top service shape. The puppy will stay with you from the age of eight weeks old to around 18-months or a year and a half old.

Puppy raisers are responsible for helping with obedience training as well as socialization. That means you will be attending various settings with your dog to make sure they can handle being around people.

Because these positions are on a volunteer basis you don't get paid for taking in a dog. Luckily though, if you're recognized as a good puppy raiser, there is the opportunity to raise more dogs!

What are you waiting for? If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you (because who doesn't love a puppy) then you need to apply ASAP. The process can take up to 6 weeks and involved various steps to become the perfect puppy raiser.

National Service Dogs is located in Cambridge, Ontario and sadly cannot take out of province applicants. Interested puppy raisers must live within 45 kilometres of Cambridge, Ontario, but university and college students are more than welcome to apply
