In Thursday's annual budget, Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa announced that all Ontario residents younger than 25 will have the cost of their prescription drugs covered by a new governmental program.

If approved, the program is set to begin early 2018  and will cover 4,400 types of drugs for children and young adults, regardless of private insurance or family income.

Sousa projected that the program would cost $465 million per year.
