Multiple Stabbings & Shootings Last Night Made For A Violent Halloween In The GTA
The storm didn't keep people at home.
Last night turned out to be busy in the GTA despite the storm, and unfortunately, there was a lot of violence as a result. A shooting in Brampton left one dead, a mass stabbing in the Annex has seven people wounded, with two of them suffering life-threatening injuries, along with a drive-by shooting in Flemingdon Park. It seems that Halloween in the GTA seemed to be a violent one.
Early on Friday morning, a man in his late teens to early twenties was killed in Brampton just before 12:30 a.m. near Ridgeview Public School, 680 News reports. He was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no word on any leads regarding suspects that may have been involved. The school has tweeted that it will be closed on November 1 as a result.
A drive-by shooting involving an Uber also happened near Don Mills and Gateway Boulevard. A 27-year-old man, who was a passenger in the Uber, was shot at around 1:30 a.m. and is being treated for his injuries, which are not life-threatening, according to CP24.
A mass stabbing in an Annex-area house party has also left seven people with injuries. When police arrived at the house near Madison and Bloor around 11:47 p.m., they found six people with injuries. The seventh showed up to the hospital on his own CP24 reports. Police apprehended a suspect at around 12:44 a.m.
The suspect from the stabbing incident is in police custody and is said to be between 18 and 20 years of age, according to police.
CP24 reports that many witnesses of the mass stabbing left the scene before talking to police, and authorities are urging anyone with information on what happened to come forward and share those details.
There was also a shooting at Pape and Cosburn that left two teens with injuries.
However, it wasn't just a violent night in the GTA, it was also a stormy one.
CBC has reported that the severe winds caused debris from a construction site to nearly crush a delivery driver at Don Mills and Eglinton, just moments after the drive-by shooting that happened in the area.
A wooden beam crashed through his windshield and trapped him in his car. He's being treated for injuries.
