Just yesterday we reported that former First Lady Michelle Obama was in town to do her first ever Canadian speaking engagement on equality and education for women and girls. Kicking of her Canadian tour in Toronto, many were excited to hear what she had to say.\nIt seems like our very own Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau, spouse of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also wanted to get in some face time with the former First Lady. Just yesterday, our favourite gal pals were spotting on the streets of Toronto heading out to grab lunch.\nNot surprising really, since during a Let Girls Learn event in 2016, Michelle notably called Sophie her 'soulmate' and noted that they've gotten in trouble together in the past. So it only makes sense that the dynamic duo would meet up when they happened to be in the same place at the same time.\nI just can’t....MICHELLE OBAMA and SOPHIE GRÉGOIRE TRUDEAU @gusto101to for lunch TODAY. . . . . Just the two First Ladies and about 15 secret service men. Michelle and Sophie took the private dining room to themselves and shared, Kale salad (of course!), grilled octopus, buffalo mozzarella, ravioli, shrimp pasta, shishito peppers. #firstladieslunching #torontolife #michelleobama #sophietrudeau #honouredtoserve\n\nA post shared by Janet Zuccarini (@janetzuccarini) on Nov 28, 2017 at 3:07pm PST\nSo where did the ladies go? Well the two were seen entering Gusto101 with about 15 secret service men. The delicious Southern Italian restaurant located just North of Portland and King is a staple in the Toronto food scene and has been serving delicious dishes like their mushroom pasta since 2012.\nWhen it comes to what the ladies ordered, things can't be 100% confirmed since they sat in a private dining room but Janet Zuccarini, the owner of Gusto101 put it out there that they really took the time to indulge. Allegedly six of Gusto's top dishes were brought to the table.\nvia @gusto101to\nThe first being Gusto's always delicious kale salad (Cavolo Nero), which Michelle and Sophie split.\nvia @6ixtips\nFollowed by an order of the Polipo, which is a grilled octopus dish served with chimichurri, olive tapenade, piquillo purée, lemon potatoes, and fried capers.\nvia @gusto101to\nNext on the docket was the Mozzarella di Bufala. A dish of tasty buffalo mozzarella accompanied by eggplant caponata, castelvetrano olives, fettunta.\nvia @gusto101to\nIt obviously wouldn't be a stop at Gusto if they ladies didn't get something off the pasta section of the menu, and they made a great call with the Ravioli di Zucca - a pumpkin ravioli dish with brown butter, sage, pine nuts, and pumpkin seeds.\nvia @gusto101to\nApparently Gusto's Shishito Peppers also made the cut. The dish includes grilled shishito peppers, togarashi, bottarga, lemon (sounds fancy, huh?).\nvia @gusto101to\nLast up was the Calamarata con Gamberi, a pasta dish with wild shrimp, tomato sauce, cherry tomato, chilies, marjoram, parsley.\nAll we can say is, great restaurant choice ladies! We love some girl who aren't afraid to eat.
