Chair Girl Is Back In Court Today & She Apparently Brought The Chair
It's bring your chair to court day.
Tuesday marks a big day for Toronto's 'Chair Girl', as Marcella Zoia's court date is officially underway. The 20-year-old is facing charges of public mischief endangering life after she threw a chair off of a highrise condo building and onto the Gardiner Expressway. She is back in court today for her final sentencing, and it has been reported that they brought the now infamous chair in as evidence.
The chair is reportedly wrapped in plastic, according to reporters on the scene.
Betsy Powell, a Toronto Star reporter reveals that "So called chair girl Marcella Zoia enters Old City Hall court with her lawyer, Greg Leslie. Behind them was a man, I assume a police officer, carrying an IKEA chair wrapped in plastic."
Whether or not it was the actual chair that was thrown off the balcony last year remains unclear, yet it is reported that it will be used for evidence in the case against Zoia.
The sentencing has been delayed until 11:30 a.m. as they go through a pre-sentence report of the entire case.
Zoia has pleaded guilty to her charges and may be facing up to six months in jail. However, her lawyer is requesting for a suspended sentence.
Greg Leslie, her lawyer, has confirmed that she is feeling "very anxious", Meagan Fitzpatrick reported in a live tweet from the scene.
It has beensince the video of Zoia throwing the chair went viral, sparking outrage and confusion across the city.
Luckily nobody was hurt in the incident, but the prosecution has notsince the video surfaced.
Zoia, on the other hand, has seemed unbothered in several of her court appearances.
Chair Girl made headlines last year after showing up to a court appearance last year with Starbucks in hand and athat she wore throughout her time at the hearing.
She even skipped a court appearance once because of ashe had to do in Miami.
The last time she appeared in court was back in November. She was recorded speed-walking into the courthouse, masking her eyes with huge sunglasses and.
That court date did not last long, however. Zoia was quick to plead guilty to her charges and to confirm that it was, in fact, her in the video throwing the chair.
