A film shoot went very wrong in Oakville on Saturday when police and witnesses mistook it for real life.

Halton Police received 911 calls from concerned individuals who observed the violent-looking scene at just after 11 p.m. that night.

The witnesses told police they saw a hatchet and heard screams coming from the property.

A witness called 911 after observing a male victim being held at gunpoint and forced into an apartment unit.

Upon arrival, Halton Police say they made a "gunpoint arrest."

With the help of the Tactical Rescue Unit, police deescalated the situation and took four males into custody without injuries.

Officers also searched the apartment and found a plastic hatchet and a fake gun.

Once in custody, the students explained that they were filming a movie, "and that the weapons and screaming and yelling had been part of a film shoot."

Halton Police concluded with a reminder that if you're filming something "that may appear suspicious to others," please give them a heads up.
