GO Transit Suspends Service After A Person Was Struck And Killed By A Train This Morning
One person was struck and killed by a GO train this morning at Oakville GO Station.
Reports have surfaced that one person was struck and killed by a GO train at Oakville GO Station this morning. Metrolinx confirmed the Oakville GO Station accident this morning in a post to Twitter. They announced that service delays of up to two hours should be expected as a direct result of the tragic accident.
At 6:11 this morning, GO Transit reported that the Lakeshore West GO train struck a person at Oakville GO station, halting service in the area for at least two hours. The train was bound for Union Station. GO Transit explained that trains would not be able to move through the station while an investigation is conducted on the tracks.
This is the second incident reported involving a person who was struck by a train in less than a week. On May 16th,after she was struck on the tracks in the Old Weston Road and Davenport Road area. Metrolinx had announced that service on the Barrie GO train line would experience delays of up to two hours as a result of the incident.
As with any type of service delay, GO riders were quick to express their frustration on social media. Some even condemned GO Transit and Metrolinx for failing to effectively communicate what had happened or how riders would be affected.
Mostly, however, people were devastated to hear about another terrible accident.
