This guy handled the news like a champ.
If you have ever bought a lottery ticket, you’ve probably fantasized about how you'd react to winning the jackpot. Maybe you would bust out your happy dance or call your parents to tell them the good news. However, one Ontario man celebrated the news by going right back to bed.
Anthony Redegeld, a 27-year-old Mississauga native, won $342,409.90 on February 18, 2020, after he matched a total of seven numbers to win the prize.
Redegeld admitted that it was also his first time buying a lottery ticket, so talk about beginner's luck!
“I had to ask the retailer for assistance when buying this ticket because I had never purchased one before,” Redegeld joked after heading into OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his massive cheque.
However, the Mississauga man didn't throw a party to celebrate his win. Instead, he fell asleep after his father scanned his ticket to see if he won.
“The next morning, my dad scanned my ticket on the OLG Lottery App. I was half asleep and brushed it off before falling back asleep,” he added. “It didn’t sink in until a day later!”
Redegeld purchased his golden ticket at INS Market on The Queensway in Mississauga.
So, what is the lucky guy going to do with his money? Redegeld states that he is going to invest in the GTA’s real estate market.
“I’m hoping to use this money to get ahead, real estate is a big concern for me in the GTA,” Redegeld noted.
“Winning is surreal, I am still coming to terms with this,” he concluded.
