A group of Bramptonians were hit with a hefty fine this weekend after they were caught by police ignoring Ontario social distancing rules. The large group was playing cricket in a field before they were swarmed by police. A video of the incident has since appeared online and it shows just how serious these fines can be.\nIn a video that was posted to Instagram, a group of residents can be seen gathered together in a field playing cricket, ignoring the social distancing rules that have been put in place since the state of emergency was declared.\nDuring the clip, multiple cruisers can be seen swarming the large gathering of people, where they then break up the crowd and issue out fines to those who were involved.\nPolice told the Toronto Sun that the incident took place over the weekend in a field near the Creditview and Mayfield Rd. area. Out of the 13 people that were gathered in the area, 11 were fined $880 under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.\n"Upon investigation, 11 individuals were charged under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA) for failing to obey a provincial order and were issued tickets in the amount of $880. S., near Hwy. 407.\n"Seven individuals were observed by officers to be playing cricket in the field. It is unclear how many people who attended the party were charged.
