Residents are going to have to wait a little longer to start using Ontario's COVID Alert app. Ontario's Ministry of Health has just revealed that the launch of the new app has been delayed. No new launch date has been announced.

Last month, Doug Ford stated that the new app that would focus on tracking COVID-19 cases across the province would launch on July 2.

The number of cases of COVID-19 in Ontario.

According to CP24, Ontario is still working with the federal government on the new technology. However, it is still expected to launch "soon."

Once up and running, the app will be able to notify users if they have come in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Ontario will be the first province to use the COVID Alert app, with the rest of the country expected to follow this summer.
