It's about to get hot and messy this weekend. Ontario's weather forecast is calling for intense heat and humidity, with temperatures reaching up to 40 C. These muggy conditions also pose a risk for thunderstorms in some regions. So be sure to get your umbrella ready!

According to The Weather Network, Thursday is forecasted to start off relatively cool before heating several degrees in the afternoon.

Areas in Toronto will see temperatures sitting around 30 C on Friday. However, the humidity will make that feel more like 35 C.

"Heat and humidity will return to southern Ontario on Friday and continue through the weekend and into early next week with temperatures reaching the upper 20s and lower 30s," reads a statement from the TWN.

"The humidex will reach the upper 30s and possibly near 40 with a risk for scattered thunderstorms on Sunday."

If you're in southern Ontario, you won't have to pull your umbrella out today.

But thunderstorms are expected to hit the GTA on both Friday and Sunday.

However, those of you up in cottage country will be stuck inside thanks to incoming showers and thunderstorms on Thursday.

Yet, the rain won't be breaking the heat. The muggy weather is expected to last into early next week.

"The first cold front that was expected for early next week won't make it to southern Ontario, so muggy weather will continue into early next week," meteorologist Doug Gillham added.

"Still uncertainty in the timing of the second front and how far south it gets."

According to the Toronto forecast, rain is also expected on next Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
