Rob Ford's Widow Is Suing Doug Ford For Millions, Here's Everything You Need To Know About It
This election is getting wild.
The Ontario election is just days away but Doug Ford is likely to be thrown off his A-game for the final days of the campaign due to a new lawsuit filed by the widow of his late brother and former Toronto mayor Rob Ford.
Yesterday court documents were filed by Renata Ford suing both Doug and his brother Randy Ford and their associated businesses.
Here’s everything you need to know about it.
The court documents show that Renata Ford is suing for a total of $16 million because she claims that the brothers mismanaged the estate of her late husband, costing her, and her children, millions of dollars.
The most important part of the document alleges that after Rob died his wife was given control of his shares of the Ford family business, Deco Labels, Renata alleges that Doug Ford approached her and suggested that they settle the estate without lawyers.
“Let’s get rid of the lawyers and settle this on our own,” Renata alleges Doug said to her. “They will only steal your money. You’re going to lose everything in your savings.”
She also alleges that Doug Ford tried to get her to sell her shares in Deco to him.
Renata did not follow what she alleges Doug wanted to do and says that she remains completely in the dark about the exact accounting of Rob Ford’s estate.
She says that Doug has not provided her with a “full information and documentation concerning the contents or status of Rob’s estate.”
A statement from Doug Ford’s mother Diane on the issue reads “it is heartbreaking that Renata has chosen to bring forward these false and baseless allegations against our family, right in the middle of the provincial election campaign.”
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
