Toronto Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly made threats online to commit a school shooting in the city. 

The police news release states that the suspect made the threats while chatting with another individual over the internet on October 16, just after midnight. 

He reportedly stated that he was located in Toronto, in possession of a firearm, and intended to shoot up an unnamed school.

Police say that steps have already been taken to "ensure the safety of potentially targeted schools", but it is unclear what area of the city may be at risk.

An investigation is currently underway, and authorities are asking for help in identifying and locating the suspect. 

"Despite extensive investigative efforts, the man has not been identified," says the statement. 

No further information has been revealed on the case, but police are asking anyone who sees the individual to call 911.
