Southern Ontario To Get Hit With "Significant Accumulations" Of Wet Snow And Rain This Weekend
Southern Ontario can expect to see wet snow throughout Friday night and Saturday.
Just when we thought the warm weather of Spring was finally here to say, mother nature has decided that one more weekend of winter may be in store for most of Southern Ontario. The Weather Network has announced that throughout this weekend, Ontarians can be expected to be hit with high accumulations of wet snow and rain. So make sure not to store away your winter jacket just yet, because you might still need it.
Today may be the last full day of sunshine this week for Southern Ontario, as Thursday is expected to be mostly cloudy with small bursts of rain throughout the day. This rain is expected to carry on into the weekend.
While the Weather Network states that we may be lucky enough to get some sunshine Friday morning, another rainstorm is expected to move into the area on Friday night. As the night progresses the rain is expected to turn into wet snow for most of Southern Ontario.
Depending on where you are, the wet snow will affect your area differently. If you are expecting to be near Lake Ontario for the weekend, wet snow will still be present, but massive accumulations most likely won't occur.
However, if you live slightly north of the 401 or 407 the Weather Network is warning of "significant accumulations," of snow throughout the region. As the temperatures remain cooler throughout Southern Ontario an "increasing threat for substantial amounts of snow," continues to rise throughout the area.
The snow is expected to end by Saturday night, yet the warmth won't return on Sunday. Throughout Sunday it is expected to be partly cloudy and chilly.
Don't lose all hope of Spring weather just yet! While the beginning of next week is also looking chilly, temperatures are expected to rise midweek.
By Wednesday, Southern Ontario can start enjoying some double digit weather. If you are in the Toronto area you can expect to see the temperatures rise to 11°C on Wednesday.
So hang in there Ontarians, spring is on its way.
