Is there anything worse than forgetting to pick up beer before the Labour Day holiday and having to spend the whole weekend sober? No, the answer is no! Thankfully, that won't be a problem this weekend as, for the first time ever, The Beer Store Labour Day weekend schedule will see several of its locations stay open through the long weekend. It's an end-of-summer miracle! The Beer Store recently released a list of 63 locations that will be open for business during the holiday on Sept. 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., across Ontario. Wow, that's awesome! But, wait, it gets better. The Beer Store announced that in addition to keeping locations open through Labour Day, all 452 locations will be remaining open on Sept. 1 until 6 p.m. According to CTV, The Beer Store made its decision to remain open during the holiday after receiving feedback from the public. Doug Ford's provincial government has been locked in a heated battle with The Beer Store over its plan to sell beer and wine in the province's corner stores. The Toronto Sun reported last week that Finance Minister Rod Philips, who took over the task in June, had decided to take a less aggressive approach to solve the issue. "I am looking forward to sitting down with the CEOs of the three major breweries," Phillips explained of the meetings scheduled this month with the major breweries that run The Beer Store. The company has a contract with the government that runs through 2024, allowing them to be the sole retailer of 12 and 24 packs.
