Toronto's new transit expansion is finally close to completion. The York Spadina Subway Expansion, which will consist of six extra stops leading to Vaughan, is slated to open in December of 2017. This extension marks the first time that a TTC project has crossed a municipal boundary.

The new Downsview Park station was revealed this week, and its state of the art design is drawing praise. The station's big opening follows news that the cost of the expansion has risen to $3.2 billion, over 2x the initial estimates.

The York-Spadina expansion is the TTC's first new project in over ten years. Once it's running smoothly, hopefully we can begin to see more attempts to broaden the reach of the transit system.
