You may want to grab an umbrella before you head out the door today, as there is currently a thunderstorm warning in the GTA.

Environment Canada issued the warning for both the northern and southern Durham regions, including Pickering, Oshawa and Uxbridge.

Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon or early this evening.

The storm could bring "damaging" winds of up to 90 km/h, warns Environment Canada.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management is recommending that residents take cover if they encounter rough weather.

Heavy winds and rain can cause incidents such as flash flooding, blown over trees, and flying debris.
