After suffering numerous injuries throughout his career, it was announced this morning that Toronto Blue Jay Devon Travis is out for at least a month due to knee surgery. The news comes only 11 days before the Blue Jays home opener on March 28 at the Rogers Centre. Travis has been severely limited during the Jays spring training down in Florida these past few weeks. Due to a swollen knee, the first baseman was only able to play in two games and only had a total of four at-bats, which isn't a lot. Specifically, he has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in order to repair a meniscus tear. The menisci are two rubbery pads that help cushion the knee joint. Meniscus tears are really common injuries for athletes to suffer from and while minor tears can heal on their own they often require surgery to repair. That means that Travis will be out for 4 to 6 weeks at least, which honestly isn't new for the second basemen, who has missed almost as many games as he has played in his career. According to Sportsnet, Devon Travis has only played 332 out of a possible 648 games over his four-season career so far. That's why, following news of his injury and latest time off, some Blue Jays fans are actually making fun of Travis for always being injured.
