Toronto Is Opening Airbnbs For Refugees And It's Just Another Reason To Love Our City
Let's change the world one step at a time.
Toronto is continuing to do its part to help Syrian refugees in their time of crisis. The city is working with Roofs For Refugees, a relief group that offers a service which matches refugees to landlords with affordable housing. The process is carried out through an online database with the aim to find accommodations for the hundreds of refugees in the GTA as quickly as possible.
The non-profit organization started this initiative in Ottawa back in January of last year. They've decided to expand their efforts to the GTA, then later to Hamilton and London. Yusra Uzair, the organization's Toronto coordinator, understands how difficult it is for refugees convince landlords to lend them a property because they "don't have any credit history in the country."
In a time where Donald Trumps and Ann Coulters seem to be sucking all traces of moralism out of life, groups like Roofs For Refugees gives us some reason to keep our faith in humanity.
