The second you step foot outside this morning, it's immediately clear that today's temperature is abnormally frigid. Nearly -20°C with the windchill, to be exact. Making it the coldest November 22nd on record in Toronto. The previous record was held by November 22nd of 1984, when temperatures dipped to -12.4°C. This morning we hit -13°C, cold enough to shatter that record and for city officials to issue a cold weather alert for the region yesterday. Featured on Anchorman Canada Warming centres all over the city have opened their doors as temperatures hover at around -6°C today, feeling like -10°C. Which isn't nearly as freezing as other provinces have been lately - Manitoba hit -39°C yesterday. Thankfully, a warmup is expected for the remainder of the week and into next week for Toronto and the GTA. Positive digits are slated for Friday and the weekend, with temperatures between 2°C and 7°C. The city can look forward to a week with relatively no snow, but unfortunately, plenty of rain.
