Toronto Police Have Closed Front Street After A Suspicious Package Was Found
The closure is between Scott and Yonge streets.
Toronto Police have announced that Front Street is completely closed between Scott and Yonge streets after a suspicious package was found in the area.
CP24 reported the closure on their Twitter account.
Toronto Police were called to the area this morning shortly after 9 AM in response to a black suitcase that was left unattended.
Police have now closed Front St. in both directions between Scott and Yonge in order to investigate the suitcase. Both pedestrians and vehicles are being re-directed away from the area.
Police have not specified where exactly the package was found, but that section of Front Street is home to a number of office buildings, restaurants and other businesses, and landmarks such as the Hockey Hall of Fame.
The area of Front Street by Union Station, Toronto's main transit hub, remains open but this incident comes right after Go Transit issued aabout suspicious bags earlier today.
This incident comes only days after the city was putafter police announced a heavy presence in downtown Toronto and the GTA due to an unconfirmed threat.
