It's officially We The North day in Toronto. Fans are gathering to celebrate the Raptors' championship for the first time in NBA history. Nearly 2 million people are expected to attend today's parade and roads are shutting down to accommodate the crowds. If you plan on going downtown today, here are all the Toronto Raptors parade closures and transit delays that you need to be aware of.

The parade is expected to start a 10:00 AM from Exhibition Place and will run east along Lake Shore Blvd before ending at Nathan Phillips Square at 12:30 PM. The Raptors will ride on five separate double-decker buses. Drake will also have his own parade float and Nav Bhatia will serve as the parade's official marshal. Here's everything you can expect to see.

While the festivities don't kick off until 10:00 AM, rolling road closures have been in effect since 9:00 AM and will last throughout the parade.

According to the City of Toronto, Eastbound Gardiner Expressway exits at Spadina and York-Bay-Yonge will be closed throughout the morning as well as Bay Street between Dundas Street and Richmond Street.

Queen Street West between Yonge Street and University Ave will also be closed throughout the morning, as well as Chestnut Street and Elizabeth Street.

TTC routes will also be affected throughout the parade. The TTC states that they will be adding additional streetcars and extra staff to keep the delays to a minimum today. However, multiple routes will be diverted throughout the day.

Here's a list of TTC routes that will be affected:

  • 5 Avenue Rd

  • 6 Bay

  • 29 Dufferin

  • 121 Fort York-Esplanade

  • 501 Queen

  • 504 King

  • 509 Harbourfront

  • 510 Spadina

  • 511 Bathurst

For more information on how each route will be affected, all of the news has been posted on the TTC's website.

Of course, due to these road closures, delays for both drivers and TTC commuters can be expected. TTC suggests that commuters give themselves extra travel time today as their trip will likely be longer than normal.
